Tunesday: Dogs Die in Hot Cars - Maybe one album wonders

Posted by Jeremy on 15th July 2008

Today’s tune is from Dogs Die in Hot Cars. From their, well, only album. Released in 2004 and titled “Please Describe Yourself”. This Scottish group plays your stereotypical Britpop but they do it wonderfully. I was saddened by their announcement in September of 2007 that they were ending their work on their second album and going their seperate ways. But then in April they announced “The Second Album Project” which includes some downloads - sounds very promising.

The song I’ve chosen is “Paul Newman’s Eyes”. Not one of their popular songs, it’s nonetheless a quite catchy tune with a wonderful chorus that you’ll be humming to yourself all day. So listen to the song, check out the lyrics, and buy the CD.

Dogs Die In Hot Cars: Please Describe Yourself Dogs Die In Hot Cars - Please Describe Yourself

Paul Newman’s Eyes
Dogs Die in Hot Cars - Please Describe Yourself

I wish I had Paul Newman’s eyes
And every day came with some surprise
I wish I had Paul Newman’s eyes
That would be nice

Look at those houses, big houses over there
Look at those suits spending money without a care
Here comes the stars with perks around their arms
Here comes the sports car that carries so much charm
But I’m just a nothing that doesn’t have a lot
And I asked for your life but look at what I got

So sick of seeing, don’t want to hear no more
And you can amputate my limbs
And starve me to death whilst I beg for freedom
Away from a life which is this

But I wish I had Paul Newman’s eyes
And every day came with some surprise
I wish I had Paul Newman’s eyes
That would be nice

Look at those setters, those setters of the trend
Look at that band, they act so confident
Here comes the movies with dialogue so cool
Why did they never tell me to speak like that in primary school

So sick of seeing, don’t want to hear no more
And you can amputate my limbs
And starve me to death whilst I beg for freedom
Away from a life which is this

But still I wish I had Paul Newman’s eyes
And every day came with some surprise
I wish I had Paul Newman’s eyes
That would be nice

So sick of seeing
Can’t stand to talk
And I’ve no compassion
Or thought

Information Deserves to be Free!

Posted by Jeremy on 23rd June 2008

And as such, instead of making anyone else buy a scanned copy of the Daewoo Leganza service manual on CD like I did, I’m uploading it to my website and just letting whoever wants to download it.

So here you go, Daewoo Leganza owners!

Daewoo Leganza Service Manual volume 1

Daewoo Leganza Service Manual volume 2

After messing with trying to read it for awhile, I’m just going to spend the $19.99 (Originally $110, save 83%) and buy the service manuals straight from DaewooUS.Com.

Speaking of service, as soon as I posted I was going to keep the ‘Woo until she falls apart, the blower motor that controls the fan goes out. So I picked up one on ebay for $20, and after we move and I have a garage, I’ll go ahead and tear the ‘Woo apart and put it in.

When it rains, it pours.

David Mudkips, eh?

Obviously a nom de plume, but this bit of a CNN article about drunken revelers from London made me laugh out loud. Then realized I’m a friggin nerd.

CNN Article quote from David Mudkips

Confused? It’s a Pokemon thing, which hit huge fame on 4Chan with this post.

The Write Stuff

Posted by Jeremy on 19th March 2007

News. Couple of months ago I wrote a short story. Today I got a thick letter from a certain writers magazine. Inside was a ‘Congratulations, we’d like to publish your story’, documents to sign, and quite a nice offer of money for the privledge of letting them publish it.

Well I’m no dummy, so yours truly is now, technically, a professional writer - I’ve been paid & published. The editor seemed to really dig my story, he thought it was quite original and spoke of deep emotions. Yay me. You can read a big chunk of the story as it’ll be printed over at the other blog.

But I have to write something about myself in the bio section on this document, dunno what I’m going to write.

I’ll post about it after it’s already been published and a sure deal.

Oh, also, I’m not doing the Fringe Fest this year, I just don’t have the time and Mishka is really busy with things as well. So, lamenting this to a friend also in the Fringe, he said he’d love to take a couple of my original character ideas and incorporate it into his play. So whilst I’m not putting on my own deal, I will have part in one - yay me!
